Abstract

The Texas Legislature originally passed the Whistleblower Statute in 1983 in 1983 with very little debate as to its substance or impact.

The 1989 amendment required whistleblowers who had been retaliated against by their local governmental employers to utilize the employer’s grievance process before filing their case.
