Abstract

In 1971, the Texas Motor Vehicle Commission Code was originally enacted in 1971 and has been amended by the Legislature almost every session. The Code was originally compiled as Art. 4413(36), Vernon’s Annotated Civil Statutes. In 2003, the text of the Code was revised and transferred to Chapter 2301, Occupations Code.

In 1989, the legislature passed CSHB 2552 which made a number of changes to the Motor Vehicle Commission Code, including new provisions governing operation of the commission and practices of new vehicle manufacturers, distributors, dealers and converters.
